Kylian Mbappe has hit out at a Paraguayan senator who delivered appalling racist remarks following their FIFA World Cup defeat to France, branding her "a despicable woman unworthy of her position."
France's World Cup Round of 16 game against Paraguay proved highly contentious, with players jostling and grappling with one another in pursuit of any edge. The Paraguayans' aggressive approach ultimately became their undoing, conceding a penalty that star Mbappe buried for his seventh goal of the tournament.
For nearly two hours, the Paraguayans tried to unsettle the French through various tactics, though ultimately, it failed to rattle the 2018 World Cup champions. Rather, Mbappe and his teammates flourished amid the hostile atmosphere and secured enough to progress to the quarterfinals, as per The Mirror US.
Despite Paraguay's intensely physical, and occasionally questionable, tactics - which triggered substantial postgame discussion - Paraguay picked up zero yellow cards, while France received three. Multiple hard challenges and away-from-the-ball confrontations by Paraguayan players, especially those involving figures like Matías Galarza, escaped punishment. This prompted fierce criticism of match official Ilgiz Tantashev regarding his handling of the rough play, reports
Nevertheless, Mbappe's anger is primarily directed at Paraguayan senator Celeste Amarilla. She made despicable racist statements, and the Real Madrid forward responded via social media.
"Madame Celeste Amarilla, You are a despicable woman and unworthy of your position," Mbappe's post began, via translation. "You do not represent Paraguay, that country which has sweated passion and honor throughout the competition.
"Through your recklessness and your brazen racism, the entire world has already forgotten the journey and the historic effort that your players accomplished during this World Cup, making way for an incompetent woman who gives the worst possible image of her country.
"I will never allow people like her the freedom to spread their hatred and racism across the world."

Amarilla's vile remarks were directed at Mbappe and his conduct toward Paraguay. The 27-year-old declined to shake goalkeeper Orlando Gill's hand after the game, triggering a torrent of abuse aimed in his direction.
"This brute hasn't even learned to write. Instead of breastmilk, he grew up sucking on coconuts, and the most educated creatures he ever heard were chimpanzees," Amarilla said, via translation. "You should've given him the middle finger, Orlando Gill."
In another post, Amarilla wrote: "A colonized Cameroonian, pretending to be French, resentful, newly rich, arrogant, and ugly. He was nervous and scared to death all game, like his whole team. They didn't even manage to score a single goal, until they got lucky with a penalty. The only thing many of us blame the team for is not giving him a full-handed slap at the end of the game. I'm not even a football fan."
The French soccer federation swiftly condemned Amarilla's remarks. "The racist remarks by Paraguayan Senator Celeste Amarilla targeting Kylian Mbappé are utterly abhorrent and unacceptable," its statement read, via translation.
"How can anyone make such statements? These remarks are criminal and reprehensible. They must be prosecuted here as elsewhere. The FFF is filing a report with the prosecutor's office for the purpose of judicial action.
"The Federation extends its full support to its captain, its players, and more generally to all victims of such odious remarks. Now more than ever, the FFF is committed to fighting racism and all forms of discrimination. These remarks dishonor those who make them and those who spread them. The players of the France National Team represent France; it is our country that is being insulted."
With Paraguay now knocked out of the competition, France will face either the U.S. Men's National Team or Belgium in the quarterfinals.
