The 2026-27 English Premier League season will be headlined by giants Arsenal, Manchester City, and Liverpool but also by the growing American contingent.
Tyler Adams and Chris Richards headline the five Americans preparing for involvement in England’s top-flight as the bright lights get ready to turn on. Adams helped Bournemouth seal a first-ever European berth while Richards and Crystal Palace lifted the UEFA Conference League title to boost themselves into the Europa League.
Antonee Robinson remains a key player at Fulham and will look to lock down a consistent starting job under new manager Alvaro Arbeloa. Brenden Aaronson and Leeds United stayed up in the Premier League last campaign and will now fight to finish in the top-half this time around.
Haji Wright and Coventry City will try to avoid a drop back down to the EFL Championship after winning the second-division title last term.
Here is a look at the Americans Abroad contingent heading into the EPL season:
Tyler Adams, AFC Bournemouth
Fresh off his second FIFA World Cup, Tyler Adams now shifts his attention back to AFC Bournemouth.
Adams, 27, is heading into his third full season with the Cherries after playing another large role for the club last year. The hardworking midfielder missed time during parts of the season but still finished with two goals and two assists in Andoni Iraola’s squad.
Iraola jetted off to Liverpool and Marco Rose is in charge, giving Adams a new manager to impress on the South Coast.
Chris Richards, Crystal Palace
What a past 12 months it’s been for Chris Richards.
Richards logged 50 appearances for Crystal Palace, helping the South London club win the 2025 Community Shield and 2025-26 UEFA Conference League title. The 26-year-old defender remained a constant under Oliver Glasner, but will also have a new manager to impress in Pierre Sage.
With Maxence Lacroix trading Crystal Palace for Chelsea, Richards will now step up as the club’s leading centerback.
Antonee Robinson, Fulham
Injuries forced Antonee Robinson back a bit during the 2025-26 campaign but all signs are pointing for him to bounce back this season.
Robinson was reduced to only 26 appearances for Fulham, scoring one penalty kick goal and adding one assist. The versatile and dangerous left back remains one of the more experienced players in the Cottagers’ roster, looking to retain his spot under Alvaro Arbeloa.
Fresh off of an impactful FIFA World Cup, Robinson’s confidence should be sky high.
Brenden Aaronson, Leeds United
It’s hard to not see Brenden Aaronson fighting for a key spot in Daniel Farke’s Leeds United squad this season.
Aaronson is heading into his fourth season with Leeds United after contributing four goals and five assists last term. The 25-year-old remains one of the hardest working midfielders in the Premier League, pestering opposing defenders and putting himself into good positions on the field.
Despite a quiet World Cup with the USMNT, Aaronson scored on his only appearance of Leeds’ U.S. Tour.
Whether it’s as a starter or a substitute, Aaronson will surely be one of the leading names in the squad.
Haji Wright, Coventry City
Coventry City relied heavily on Haji Wright’s goalscoring abilities in the EFL Championship.
Wright has netted 49 times for the Sky Blues in three seasons in the second-tier, but now pressure will be on him to deliver just as frequently in the Premier League. Similar to Aaronson, the 28-year-old failed to make much of an impact at the World Cup, watching as Folarin Balogun led the way at the No. 9 position.
The best way for Wright to rebound is by stepping up for Coventry City and Frank Lampard will be confident that Wright can do that.
