Alexander Isak acknowledges there's "a lot of work to be done" for Liverpool as time runs out before the new Premier League season kicks off.
The Reds wrapped up their United States tour on a sour note when they surrendered a 2-0 halftime advantage to fall 4-2 to Leeds United in Chicago on Sunday.
Isak played the first 45 minutes, marking his debut under new head coach Andoni Iraola after returning from Sweden's run to the FIFA World Cup's Round of 32, where they were knocked out by eventual semifinalists France, as per the Liverpool Echo.
Liverpool had secured wins against Sunderland and Wrexham earlier on tour despite missing numerous players due to injuries or World Cup commitments.
They continue to be connected with several prospective new additions and will wrap up their preseason with home exhibitions against AS Monaco and Como 1907 before making the trip to Newcastle United for the Premier League's opening weekend on August 23.
And when questioned about his experience with new manager Iraola, Isak highlighted how Liverpool are still far from being in optimal shape for the campaign's kick-off.
"I mean it is early days but the training has felt good," he said. "We all like his game ideas, it feels positive but there is still a long way to go. There is a lot of work to be done.
"Of course, I hope to be in good form as early as possible and to be able to help the team achieve success. That's the plan."

Isak completed the full 90 minutes on three occasions for Sweden at the World Cup after being unable to finish a single game in 22 appearances for Liverpool following his controversial £125 million ($170 million) transfer from Newcastle last September.
Discussing his return to the field for the Reds, the forward said: "It feels good after a break and some training, so it is always nice, I recharged the batteries, had a nice break, just taken it easy, mostly.
"I got to feel the ball a bit more (against Leeds). I got a bit of running in and built up some fitness. In these games, the most important thing is to get the body going and it felt good.
"And for the team too, I think we had a pretty good first half.
"I feel good. No problems. Physically speaking, pre-season is obviously there to build up your physical condition and that's what we're going to do."
