In a recent report, Fichajes mentioned that Arsenal are eyeing a player-plus-cash move for Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez. It has been revealed that the Gunners are willing to offer €70m plus Viktor Gyokeres to secure the services of the Argentina international this off-season.
Alvarez’s Impressive Form In La Liga
Alvarez enjoyed a rich vein of form at the Spanish club in the previous campaign after he produced a handful of productive displays as the focal point of Diego Simeone’s attack. The Argentine sensation netted 20 goals and picked up nine assists in 49 matches for the Madrid club last season across various competitions.
The 26-year-old is currently one of the most feared forwards in La Liga. Thus, the Gunners would do well to lure him to the Emirates Stadium in this transfer window.
His current contract with Atletico Madrid will expire in the summer of 2030, which could make it difficult for Arsenal to land him on the cheap later this year.
Should Arsenal Boss Mikel Arteta Go For Alvarez?
Alvarez excels at finding a yard of space for himself to get a few shots in at goal. He has proven his worth as a good finisher in the final third and can shoot the ball with power from long range.
The Argentine talent has the eye to play some decisive passes in and around the opponent’s penalty area and is also quite clever with his movements in and around the opponent’s penalty area. Alvarez is primarily a centre-forward but can also operate as a wide player on either wing or play as an attacking midfielder if needed. He already knows the Premier League well from his time at Man City and won’t take much time to settle into life at Arsenal.
We can expect Alvarez to enhance the quality of Mikel Arteta’s attack. He is good enough to compete for a regular starting spot at the Emirates Stadium over the next few years.
