In a recent report, talkSPORT revealed that Arsenal remain keen on signing Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez. It has been mentioned that the Gunners are hoping to land the Argentina international in this summer transfer window.
Alvarez’s Impressive Numbers In La Liga
Alvarez enjoyed a productive campaign at the Madrid club as he managed to put in a run of impressive displays for them on the offensive end of the field. The Argentine talent scored 20 times and picked up nine assists in 49 appearances for Atletico Madrid last season across all competitions.
The 26-year-old is currently one of the best centre-forwards in La Liga. Thus, the Gunners would do well to lure him to the Emirates Stadium in this transfer window.
His current contract at the Wanda Metropolitano will expire in the summer of 2030. Therefore, Arsenal would have to make a convincing offer if they are serious about recruiting Alvarez this off-season.
Should Arsenal Boss Mikel Arteta Bring Alvarez On Board?
Alvarez is proficient at finding some space for himself to get a few shots in at goal. He can be a decent finisher in the final third and has the eye to create some meaningful openings for others around him up top.
The Argentine talent is also quite clever with his movements in and around the opposition’s penalty area and can chip in by scoring and creating his fair share of goals. Alvarez mainly operates as a forward but can also fill in as a wide player on either flank or play in the number ten position if told to do so. He already knows the Premier League well from his time at Manchester City and won’t take much time to adjust to life at the North London club.
We can expect Alvarez to enhance the quality of Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta’s frontline. He is good enough to compete for a regular first-team spot at the Emirates Stadium next season.
At 26, Alvarez has his peak years ahead of him, which makes him a great choice for the Gunners to pursue in this transfer period. Thus, Arteta would be wise to go all out to bring him on board this month.
