The home of the Kansas City Chiefs is once again Arrowhead Stadium.
Not GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium. No, just Arrowhead Stadium.

It has been that way since 1972, so the team “shedding” the sponsorship is not only welcome, but a nice way to pay tribute to a legendary stadium before the team moves across the state line in 2031.
The Chiefs and GEHA signed a naming rights deal in 2021 that resulted in the name change. But it never stuck among fans, and even players and coaches often forgot to use the official moniker, instead using the name it was christened with upon opening in 1972.In fact, Arrowhead Stadium has become such a well-known brand that just about everybody in Kansas City and beyond continued to refer to it that way during the recent World Cup, when FIFA renamed it “Kansas City Stadium” for the six matches played there.

In 11-on-11 near the 25-yard line, Mahomes drew the defense in to set up a screen for Kenneth Walker, who likely would have taken it for a touchdown in a game setting. Closer to the goal line, Mahomes nearly had a touchdown pass to Travis Kelce, but Kelce couldn’t keep his feet in bounds from my vantage point.From the 10-yard line, wide receiver Tyquan Thornton high-pointed a pass from Mahomes along the left sideline and, despite being elevated, found a way to toe-tap in bounds to complete the reception.A few plays later, the quarterback threw a quick pass to tight end Noah Gray, who scored the first of four touchdowns during team periods on the day. As the Chiefs experiment with heavier looks, especially in scoring areas, Gray remains a target to watch.
S Xavier NwankpaDave Toub put Nwankpa on everyone’s radar back in June. Now, Nwankpa is putting himself squarely on the radar through his play during practice. He’s primarily worked with the second-team defense at safety, along with special teams. On defense, he’s flashed numerous times. His interception and return against Justin Fields on the first day of pads stood out most.

Quarterback Patrick Mahomes and tight end Noah Gray connected on multiple touchdown throws during red zone work. The first touchdown Mahomes was able to bullet between two defenders. The second one, Gray was able to keep the defender at bay and catch the far-shoulder throw.Rookie quarterback Garrett Nussmeier made an impressive throw on the run and placed it in a spot where only wide receiver Omari Evans could reach for a sliding touchdown.

“P-Woods, he’s a little pitbull,” defensive tackle Khyiris Tonga said after Tuesday’s practice. “He’s nasty. He’s got something to him, and he’s got a chip on his shoulder. [He’s] eager to learn — just a sponge. Just taking everything in and just learning and growing, it’s cool to see that. Really, all the rookies too. We’ve got a good group of rookies coming in.”
