Who were you more surprised to see at the first ever World Cup halftime show: Ted Lasso or Sesame Street’s The Count? FIFA pulled out all the stops for its inaugural halftime show. BTS had one of their first big televised performances as a band post–military duty, Madonna drove into the stadium on a dune buggy (flanked by Ronaldinho and Ronaldo), and Justin Bieber briefly turned MetLife Stadium into a megachurch was a heartfelt rendition of “Everything Hallelujah.” Gustavo Dudamel conducted the Electric Mayhem (minus Dr. Teeth, Lips, and Zoot) in the soccer-hooligan version of “Seven Nation Army.” In a continuing football-anthem medley, Shakira and Burna Boy did “Dai Dai.” But perhaps the biggest highlight was Coldplay bringing out Kermit, Miss Piggy, and The Count to sing with a full children’s choir.
