Donald Trump has stayed quiet on the USMNT's impressive World Cup 2026 group stage run, winning Group D with victories over Paraguay and Australia.

Donald Trump has not posted on Truth Social regarding the United States clinching their group in the World Cup, choosing instead to attack the Democratic party. The president had phoned USMNT head coach Mauricio Pochettino at the tournament's outset to wish the squad well.

Yet, the President hasn't commented on their remarkable opening performance, securing victories in both matches against Paraguay and Australia.

They dispatched the Socceroos 2-0 on Friday afternoon to guarantee top spot in Group D - leaving them with nothing at stake in their concluding group fixture against Turkey, giving Pochettino the opportunity to rest key players and manage workload.

Trump has stayed highly engaged on social media, frequently commenting on sports while showing up courtside at the New York Knicks versus San Antonio Spurs clash in the NBA Finals.

Trump contacted Pochettino before the competition began, telling the head coach: "Well, I just got to say you're a fantastic guy, a fantastic coach.", reports the Mirror US.

"I know all about your record and your success, and I know how great the players are. I think you've got a really good chance of going all the way. I just want to wish you a lot of luck."

The Argentinian replied: "Thank you so much for your support, Mr. President. We are going to do everything to make proud you and all the people here in this country."

Trump had irritated soccer supporters last year when he lingered on stage as Chelsea collected the Club World Cup trophy at MetLife Stadium.

The president is expected to attend the World Cup final on July 19, where he may seek to repeat such actions.

The USMNT will aim to progress as deep as possible in the competition, having netted 6 goals while allowing only one across their matches against Paraguay and Australia.

The challenges ahead are set to intensify, with Turkey regarded as a formidable opponent heading into the tournament.

By topping the group stage, the USA has guaranteed they will meet a third-place finisher in the opening knockout round. As things stand, their initial playoff adversary will be Bosnia-Herzegovina.

If victorious, they are projected to encounter Belgium in the Round of 16 in what would prove a difficult contest - one where they'd presumably enter as underdogs.
