Portuguese giants Benfica have confirmed the signing of Nigerian attacker Flourish Sabastine on a free transfer.
The former Falconets striker joined Fenerbahce last year and helped the club win the Turkish Women’s Super League last season, contributing 12 goals in 25 appearances across all competitions.
However, her contract with the club expired at the end of the campaign, paving the way for her move to Benfica, the reigning champions of Portugal.
Sabastine signed a three-year contract that will keep her at the club until 2029.
With the move, she becomes the third Nigerian star at Benfica, joining Super Falcons midfielder Christy Ucheibe and Janet Akekoromowei, who was also signed by the club this summer.

Sabastine was the striker of Nigeria’s U-20 women’s team at the 2022 FIFA Women’s U-20 World Cup in Costa Rica, where the Falconets reached the quarter-finals before losing to the Netherlands.
Some of her teammates at the tournament included current Super Falcons defender Tosin Demehin, Esther Onyenezide, Deborah Abiodun, Rofiat Imuran and Chioma Olise, who now plays in Turkey.
Following her move to Benfica, the Super Falcons star expressed her readiness to make an impact and help the club achieve success.
“To the Benfica fans, I can’t wait to see you guys soon on the pitch. I’m here to give you guys the best, and make you guys enjoy football,” Sabastine said.
