FIFA on Wednesday requested statements from all individuals involved in the disturbances that followed the World Cup final, including Argentina midfielder Leandro Paredes.
The world governing body said it would announce its decisions after reviewing the responses.
FIFA appointed a special investigator to examine the incidents.
Following Spain's 1–0 extra-time victory over Argentina in East Rutherford, confrontations broke out on the pitch, with most of the incidents reportedly involving Argentinian players.
According to FIFA, Paredes grabbed Spain midfielder Gavi by the shirt, struck him in the face with his hand and pushed him to the ground during the altercation. He had earlier pushed Spanish defender Eric García.
Gavi is the only Spanish player currently under investigation, FIFA said. On the Argentinian side, Nahuel Molina, Thiago Almada and assistant coach Roberto Ayala are also being investigated.
Separate probe into Argentina-England semi-final
FIFA is also investigating the Argentine Football Association over several alleged breaches of its disciplinary regulations, including the display of prohibited political messages at sporting events.
After Argentina's 2-1 semi-final victory over England, players displayed a banner reading "Las Malvinas son Argentinas" (The Falkland Islands are Argentinian).
The slogan refers to the long-running sovereignty dispute over the Falkland Islands, which led to the 1982 Falklands War between Argentina and the United Kingdom. The British government subsequently called on FIFA to investigate the incident.
FIFA is also examining allegations involving discriminatory and racist behaviour, delayed kick-offs, inappropriate messages and the throwing of objects by spectators in connection with the Argentine Football Association.
