After launching the Gemini Spark agent on Android, iOS, and desktop in May, Google is now integrating it into the Gemini macOS app.
For macOS, Gemini Spark is still in beta and only available to users over 18 in the US with a Google AI Ultra subscription. Google touts it as "your 24/7 personal agent" that operates autonomously and completes tasks on your behalf. It's powered by Gemini 3.5 Flash, and once available, you can click a toggle in the sidebar to switch from regular chat to Spark in the Gemini app.
With your permission, Spark can access the files and folders on your desktop, as well as Workspace apps, and take actions based on prompts you provide. You can, for example, ask it to sort the PDFs in your Downloads folder or ask it to create a spreadsheet based on the invoices saved in a folder. You can also schedule some of these tasks to run at regular intervals.
In a blog post, Google also mentioned that Spark now tracks news and social media to answer questions about just-concluded events. For example, you can ask the AI agent about the ongoing FIFA World Cup, and it will provide you with the latest highlights and analysis.
Additionally, Google teased a few other Spark upgrades. For tasks on your Mac, you’ll soon be able to provide prompts remotely from the Gemini mobile app. Once this upgrade rolls out, Spark will also be able to pull files from your desktop and email them to you while you're away.
In the coming weeks, Google will add support for more connected apps, including Canva, Dropbox, Instacart, OpenTable, and Zillow Rentals. This way, you’ll be able to use Spark to “easily design custom flyers, access and share your files, reserve a table for date night, order your weekly groceries or reserve an apartment tour,” Google says.
