Gianni Infantino has not arranged a call with members of Donald Trump's Cabinet in an attempt to preserve his FIFA position, The Mirror has been informed. Allegations that the embattled FIFA President sought a call where he was purportedly prepared to request backing have also been refuted by the U.S. government.
Infantino's tenure as FIFA President has been the subject of conjecture ever since contentious proposals surfaced, which would have seen the organization sell stakes in its premier tournaments, including the men's and women's World Cups, as well as the Club World Cup.
FIFA has since announced that the strategy, which was labeled the FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE), has been abandoned following the widespread backlash that ensued.
Consequently, rumors have been circulating about Infantino's future as FIFA President, with the New York Post now claiming that a meeting has been organized with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
Mirror Football understands that, contrary to the recent claims, no meeting is scheduled to occur between Infantino and members of the Trump administration, including the U.S. Secretary of State.
Assistant Secretary of State for Global Public Affairs Dylan Johnson has written in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, to deny that such a meeting is taking place between Rubio and Infantino.
England and Wales have already demanded a leadership transition at FIFA, with both nations withdrawing their support for Infantino's re-election bid as President. Serbia has become the latest nation to withdraw their backing for Infantino's re-election as FIFA President.

In a statement released on Monday, they said: "We recall that FA of Serbia formally expressed its support for Mr Infantino in writing on 25 May this year, but after a thorough consideration of the developments that have seriously undermined the reputation and credibility of both FIFA and its President in the past period, this is the only logical and rational move.
"Football Association of Serbia is of the opinion that the future of world football must be founded on transparency, dialogue, mutual respect, and partner relations among all confederations and national associations.
"We believe that no decision of strategic importance for the future of football should be made without broad consensus and open consultation with all relevant stakeholders.
"Football Association of Serbia remains committed to cooperation with FIFA, UEFA, and all national associations for the purpose of development and improvement of football, but is also of the opinion that at this moment a new trust is needed, as well as a new approach, and management that will contribute to restoring dialogue, unity, and the credibility of international football institutions."
