Ghanaian 'witch doctor' Nana Kwaku Bonsam has claimed to have "released" Harry Kane so that he can score for England against FIFA World Cup Group L rivals Panama.

Bonsam insists he's now the "most powerful spiritualist in the whole world " after the prolific Three Lions captain drew a blank against the Black Stars in Boston. Prior to the match, Bonsam revealed he was casting a spell to stop the England striker from scoring, boldly declaring: "I am working on Harry Kane," as per The Mirror.

"I have shown what I am capable of before so I know what work I must do to stop him. I am very famous for my predictions. I am not wishing him serious injury. It will be just enough to stop him against my country."

Now Bonsam, whose name translates to 'Devil of Wednesday', has announced his intention to 'free' Kane from his constraints.

He added: "I am the most powerful spiritualist in the whole world. Now, I am going to release Harry Kane so that, his next match, he can score. Harry, I will come and visit you. Don't be offended. We are friends."

Back in 2014, the 52-year-old claimed responsibility for a knee injury that had threatened Cristiano Ronaldo's participation at the World Cup.

The Portuguese forward was also dealing with a thigh problem at the time, but subsequently recovered to feature in all three of Portugal's group matches, including against Ghana in Brasilia, where CR7 scored the winner.

Bonsam said at the time: "This injury can never be cured by any medic, they can never see what is causing the injury because it is spiritual. Today, it is his knee, tomorrow it is his thigh, next day it is something else."

Ronaldo continues to perform at the age of 41, netting two goals at his sixth World Cup finals on Tuesday as Portugal demolished Uzbekistan 5-0 in Houston, Texas.

Kane managed just 19 touches against Ghana, though he squandered the game's best opportunity, blazing over from seven yards in the dying moments.

He remained composed after acknowledging the Black Stars' resolute defending: "You go through games like that. I was waiting for an opportunity like that to fall my way and it was a game as a striker where you are just waiting for the ball to bounce. It did and I just couldn't quite get over the ball.

"Yeah, I'd back myself to score that more often than not, but it is what it is and I've been a striker long enough to know they don't always go in, so I have to accept it."
