Amen Thompson had the honor of representing the city of Houston at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in a round of 16 matchup between Morocco and Canada.

Houston Rockets phenom Amen Thompson was given a special distinction Saturday at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, as he was present for a Round of 16 matchup between Morocco and Canada in Houston, Texas. This was the seventh and final World Cup game played in Houston, as the prestigious tournament nears an end.

Thompson was given the honor of presenting the "Superior Player of the Match" award, more commonly known throughout the sport as a "Man of the Match" award. That distinction belonged to Azzedine Ounahi, a Moroccan midfielder who scored two of the team's three goals in a 3-0 victory, eliminating Canada and advancing to the quarterfinals.

Following the game, both Thompson and Ounahi posed for a photo as Thompson handed off the award.
