Argentina has won five in a row as it prepares to face Honduras on Saturday in what will be its final friendly before defending the FIFA World Cup. Lionel Messi finally got his hands on the most prestigious trophy in soccer four years ago and will now form part of the World Cup squad, hoping to go back-to-back.

Los Albiceleste have won five games in a row ahead of their trip to Kyle Field in College Station, which will stage the first meeting between these teams in almost four years. Honduras has suffered defeat in each of its three encounters with Argentina to date, the only saving grace being that its result doesn’t have too much impact, with no World Cup campaign to prepare for this summer.
La Bicolor has lost just once across its last seven games, though it’s also managed only two wins across that same span. Former Spain goalkeeper Jose Francisco Molina is currently undefeated at the helm after drawing 2-2 against Peru in his February debut, and a result here would go a long way to proving the team is in good hands with him calling the shots.
It was almost two decades ago that Messi went up against Molina in their only club encounter when the latter was guarding the posts for Levante in April 2007. Barcelona clinched a 1-0 win at the Camp Nou that day thanks to a Samuel Eto’o decider, but Argentina looks likely to continue its World Cup prep with a wider win in Texas.
