Morocco will attempt to build on an impressive opening result against Brazil when it faces Group C leader Scotland at the FIFA World Cup 2026 on Friday. The Tartan Army was always expected to lead the pool at this stage of the competition, but can effectively secure its spot in the knockout stages with an upset result against the Atlas Lions.

Scotland opened its tournament with the narrowest of 1-0 wins over Haiti, not quite good enough to inspire belief it will finish ahead of either Morocco or Brazil in the pecking order. Anything but a draw could spell disaster for the Scots, who suffered a 3-0 defeat in the only previous encounter between these two countries back in June 1998. However, Steve Clarke has taken the team way beyond those parameters more than two decades on, with Scotland boasting some stellar momentum on the back of three straight wins.
Marseille defender Nayef Aguerd and Real Betis playmaker Abde Ezzalzouli each missed the opening draw against Brazil and remain questionable for the trip to Foxborough. Meanwhile, Scotland center-back Scott McKenna may be ready to make his World Cup debut after returning to training this week on the back of a calf complaint.
