NBA legend Dominique Wilkins had a hilarious interaction with No. 1 overall pick AJ Dybantsa at this year's Fanatics Fest.
Dominique Wilkins is an NBA legend, remembered for his high-flying play with the Atlanta Hawks.
The legend was at Fanatics Fest in New York City this weekend and was part of a panel hosted by Draymond Green. Incoming No. 1 pick AJ Dybantsa was part of the panel as well, and made a rookie mistake for the ages.
AJ Dybantsa Forgets Key Dominique Wilkins Fact
Green was quizzing the rookie on legendary NBA nicknames when he got to “The Human Highlight Film.”
His guess of Michael Jordan was far from correct, and Green even tried to help him out.
The actual “Human Highlight Film” was sitting right next to him. Wilkins acted frustrated at first, but was able to make light of the hilarious situation. He is 66 years old and seemed to accept his current age.
“That means I’m getting old, y’all,” Wilkins said. He went on to give himself a new nickname as well. “I’m just human now, guys, the highlight’s gone.”

This was a hilarious exchange that shows the divide between the league’s legends and those just starting their NBA careers. To be fair to Dybantsa, Wilkins retired in 1999. The rookie No. 1 pick was born in 2007. He never saw Wilkins play and may have just learned who he was at Fanatics Fest.
But this honest mistake may make Dybantsa more of a student of NBA history. That way, he can avoid any further funny, but awkward moments like this one.

The No. 1 pick is joining a Washington Wizards team that is seemingly on the rise following last season’s additions of both Trae Young and Anthony Davis.
Fans are hoping Dybantsa can give the team an elite trio to get back into the postseason for the first time since 2021. The team last won a playoff series in 2017, against Wilkins’ former team, the Hawks.
The former BYU star is making the media rounds as the NBA hopes he can live up to his No. 1 overall pick billing. Wizards fans would also love nothing more than to get a lucky break.
Green putting him on the spot in such a hilarious way was a harmless act of rookie hazing that gave everyone a laugh, even Wilkins. A great season from Dybantsa will make this viral moment one even he can laugh about as his career continues on.
