The International Olympic Committee has eased many restrictions on Russia. This decision is an important step toward reinstating athletes' rights to compete. Sports bodies are now advised they need not vet athletes for neutral competition. Russia hopes this will allow its athletes to compete in major international events. Work continues through sports authorities for full reintegration in future games.
