Chelsea have finalized a deal to bring in England international Jordan Henderson. The former Liverpool captain, 36, has penned a two-year contract at Stamford Bridge following his exit from Brentford.
Henderson still had a year remaining on his deal with the Bees but was permitted to depart for free. The acquisition of the former Liverpool stalwart was brought in to inject much-needed experience into a youthful Chelsea squad under Xabi Alonso, with ex-Manchester United and Arsenal forward Danny Welbeck, 35, also arriving on Saturday.
The experienced pair have been joined at Chelsea this summer by the more youthful trio of Morgan Rogers (24), Marco Palestra (21) and Valentin Barco (22), as per The Mirror.
"Given the size of the club, the manager, who I have great admiration for, and the quality of the players, this was a huge opportunity I couldn't turn down," Henderson said.
"I was also so impressed with how much the ownership want Chelsea to be successful and move in the right direction.
"For me, it's about giving everything every single day, both on and off the field, to help the players around me and the team as much as possible. I'm very excited to get going."
Henderson began his career with Sunderland before making the move to Liverpool in 2011. The midfielder accumulated 492 appearances on Merseyside, guiding the club to the Premier League title and three UEFA Champions League finals, along with numerous other honors as captain.

Having departed Anfield in 2023 for Saudi Arabian club Al-Ettifaq, Henderson's stay proved brief, with further moves to Ajax and Brentford following in quick succession. His performances last season were impressive enough to earn him a place in England's FIFA World Cup squad.
The 93-capped midfielder managed just a single appearance at the tournament, contributing a six-minute cameo against Panama in the Three Lions' final group stage match. That appearance ended in disaster when he suffered a severe arm injury after tumbling from the commercial boards surrounding the pitch.
