Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano says Manchester United have ‘had phone contact’ with Manu Koné’s agent, but haven’t yet submitted an official offer for Roma.

Manchester United are looking for further midfield reinforcement even after securing the signatures of Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans.

Roma still waiting for Man United’s offer for Koné

The Red Devils have refused to complete a deal to sign Ederson from Atalanta after the Brazilian underwent the second part of medical tests in England, but are still looking to Serie A for another midfielder.

The interest in Roma’s Koné has been confirmed by multiple sources and Fabrizio Romano adds in his YouTube channel that Manchester United executives had a phone call with the Frenchman’s representatives.

It is reported that the relationship between Koné’s agents and Manchester United is excellent, but Roma have yet to receive a formal approach from the Premier League club.

Koné has just completed his second season at Roma and was part of the French national team that reached the semifinals at the 2026 World Cup.

Inter were close to signing Koné last summer, but Roma owners blocked the transfer which would have cost the Nerazzurri circa €45m.

Therefore, it is unlikely that Roma will accept selling the 25-year-old for less than that sum this summer.
