Manchester United have completed the signing of Atlético Madrid defender Andrea Medina on a three-year deal with the option of an additional year.
The Red Devils announced the news via a post on their official club website this afternoon.
The 22-year-old Seville-born full-back joins Manchester United after spending the last four years with Atlético Madrid. Medina chalked up more than 100 appearances for the Spanish club in all competitions. Prior to her time with Atlético Madrid, Medina came through the youth ranks at Real Betis before featuring for the first team.
On the international stage, Medina has represented Spain at various youth levels up to and including under-23 level. She has won two UEFA Women’s Under-19 Championships with her country along with the FIFA Under-20 Women’s World Cup.
After joining Manchester United, Medina said “Manchester United has an incredible history, and I am excited to join a team that is determined to write its own chapter at one of the most important clubs in the world.
“Competing against United last season showed me how strong the group is and just how much this club means to our supporters. The passion from everyone who travelled over to Madrid was unbelievable, that atmosphere stayed with me and I cannot wait to represent you every time I step onto the pitch.
“I am ready for the next stage of my career and to show my qualities in the intensity of the English game.”
Medina is Manchester United’s first signing of the summer transfer window.
