There will be at least one LFC player in the World Cup Final.
At least one Liverpool FC player is due to participate in the FIFA World Cup Final this weekend after new wing signing Victor Muñoz was an unused substitute when Spain triumphed 2-0 over France in the first semi-final of the competition on Tuesday.
A penalty by Mikel Oyarzabal put Spain in the lead in the first half, and then a second-half goal from Pedro just before the hour mark sealed the deal for the Spaniards who were calm and in control for most of the match, maintaining possession to effectively limit any French chances.
Muñoz could soon be joined in the World Cup final by another Liverpool FC player in Argentina midfielder Alexis Mac Allister, whose country will take on England in the next semi-final on Wednesday from Atlanta.
Whether it’s England or Argentina who win, the final against Muñoz’ Spain will take place on Sunday in New York before attention fully turns back to club football, where many of Liverpool’s players are already back in pre-season training this week.
