The New York Giants ended their offseason workout program this week with a three-day mandatory minicamp at their headquarters in East Rutherford, New Jersey. They will not reconvene as a team until the final week in July for training camp.

But it won't be at their home facility, the Quest Diagnostics Training Center in New Jersey. Due to an overrun on the scheduled renovations at Quest and the restoration of MetLife Stadium and the surrounding area in the wake of hosting the FIFA World Cup final, the Giants will hold the first two weeks of training camp at the historic Greenbrier Resort in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia.

It will be the first time since 2012 that the Giants will not be home for camp. They last went away in 2011 when they closed out a decade-and-a-half relationship with the University of Albany.

It is also the first training camp under new head coach John Harbaugh and his staff, and Harbaugh believes getting out of the NY Metro Area for a bit could serve as a bonding event for the entire organization.

"This is an opportunity for a young team with a new staff to spend 10, 12 days together in West Virginia in the hills," Harbaugh said. "And just be about football for 10, 12 days together, and eat dinner together, and have an off day together. All the things that you kind of do to just bond and get to know each other. So, if it can help our team become closer, I think that's a good thing, too."

The Greenbrier is approximately 460 miles away from East Rutherford. Some Giants players might see the trip as an inconvenience, but others don't mind it.

"I don't even know where we're going, for real," said defensive captain Brian Burns. "But it don't really matter, man. Put us on the field, put us on the field, let us play, let us sharpen our irons, our knives, let's go. It don't really matter where we're at. At the end of the day, wherever we're at is just going to be where we're at."

"I did that back in college. I have no problem; I love it," veteran linebacker Kayvon Thibodeaux added. "I think even right now with the building being under construction, it's the same kind of idea as far as things aren't comfortable, things aren't perfect. We're not used to it. It's a new environment. We can't eat the same way. We can't connect the same way. So, we've got to find ways to come together through the mud, through the dirt. I think it's going to be all for the better."

Rookie Arvell Reese, the Giants' top pick in the 2026 NFL draft, is ready for anything.

"I'll just go wherever they tell us to go," he said. "We could do it here. It don't matter where we do it. It don't got nothing to do with me, just get ready for camp."

So, what awaits the Giants at The Greenbrier?

Established in 2014 to host the New Orleans Saints Training Camp, the Greenbrier Sports Performance Center, spanning an impressive 55,000 square feet, is a complete hub for teams away from home.Featuring two grass fields, a FieldTurf field, meeting rooms, offices, a weight room, player and coaches locker rooms, a training room, a hydrotherapy room, equipment rooms, and more, this facility accommodates all aspects of team operations.Beyond the Saints, it has hosted the Houston Texans, Cleveland Browns, New England Patriots, Arizona Cardinals, and the San Francisco 49ers, as well as college football programs like West Virginia University and Marshall University. Its versatility also extends to hosting soccer, lacrosse, and various sports events.

It appears that if an NFL team were going to be displaced, this is the perfect contingency spot to land.

Questions do remain, however, about fans possibly attending. As far as we know, there will be fan access to the workouts. Information regarding the specifics of training camp will be released by the team in the coming weeks.
