- Alf-Inge Haaland has commended Paris Saint-Germain’s back-to-back Champions League triumphs while addressing historical transfer speculation involving Erling Haaland.
- The Norwegian superstar’s camp refuses to rule out a future blockbuster move to France, stating “nothing is impossible” down the line.
- Despite speculation, the lethal No.9 remains fully committed to spearheading Manchester City’s post-Pep Guardiola evolution this summer.
Erling Haaland’s father Alf-Inge has discussed transfer rumours involving his son and Paris Saint-Germain in previous years, whilst also looking ahead to a potential future in Ligue 1.
With Sporting Director Hugo Viana actively working to finalise a British-record package for Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson, protecting the club’s world-class spine is viewed as essential to launching a Premier League title pursuit once more.
However, Erling Haaland’s extraordinary performances out stateside at the ongoing FIFA World Cup continue to draw intense interest from Europe’s financial elite, with Real Madrid among the clubs continuously linked as a potential future suitor.
The 25-year-old forward has been in sensational form at the competition, recently striking a crucial brace against Senegal at MetLife Stadium to become Norway’s all-time leading World Cup goalscorer.
As speculation mounts regarding whether the managerial change in Manchester could eventually tempt the forward to seek a fresh challenge, his father has provided an intriguing glimpse into how the striker’s camp views long-term opportunities on the continent.
What has Haaland’s camp said of a PSG transfer?
Speaking during a new interview with RMC Sport at the World Cup, Alf-Inge Haaland opened up on his son Erling’s future regarding the possibility of ever joining Paris Saint-Germain – whether that be previously in his career, or in the future.
“PSG is a fantastic club, I wish them all the best. They’re coming off two incredible seasons with those two Champions League victories. It’s a very big club, but the rumours [of a move] weren’t founded at the time,” said Alfie Haaland.
“The timing wasn’t right, it wasn’t the right moment. PSG remains a top club and I wish them all the best.”
On whether football could ever see Erling Haaland starring in Ligue 1 competition, Alfie Haaland responded, “I don’t know, the future will tell, but nothing is impossible.”
It’s all eyes on Manchester City for Erling Haaland
By pointing out previous Parisian rumours as completely unfounded, Alfie Haaland’s comments reinforce how happy the striker is with his current surroundings in Manchester, where he has shattered goalscoring records at an unprecedented rate.
For the immediate future, any talk of a multi-million-pound move to the French capital remains purely speculative as Manchester City focus entirely on equipping Enzo Maresca with a specialised summer war chest.
Hugo Viana is concurrently managing an array of transfer components, including handling Tottenham Hotspur’s reported £60 million pursuit of winger Savinho and discussing the uncertain futures of the likes of Nico Gonzalez, Tijjani Reijnders, and Mateo Kovacic.
