The Philadelphia Union have struggled this year to say the least, only managing to secure seven points from their 15 opening matches. While their defense has been an issue all season, their offense hasn't been firing on all cylinders either, only amassing 18 goals entering the MLS' mid-season break for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
There are a few reasons for this, whether it was the departure of the club's leading scorer from the last season, Tai Baribo, who put up 17 goals in the 2025 season, or the perennial center forward, Mikel Uhre, who departed Subaru Park for FC Midtjylland. Apart from Milan Iloski, the Union has yet to find consistent production elsewhere in front of the goal, but that's slated to change.
Sullivan to return on Wednesday night?
One player who has been missing from Philadelphia's opening half of the season has been Quinn Sullivan, who has been out since last season due to a torn ACL, leaving the Union without their offensive talisman. Last season in his 31 games for Philadelphia, the 22-year-old recorded 11 goal involvements, with eight of those coming in the form of assists to his teammates.

While Sullivan has yet to touch the field this season, it appears that he could be making his return in the coming days, as the Union teased his return in a recent post to social media, showing the 22-year-old returning to the field, with the date of their match against the New York Red Bulls.
Sullivan might not be the only return to happen against New York, as Kai Wagner might take to the field for the Union for the first time since making his move back to the City of Brotherly Love after a brief stint with Birmingham City in the Championship in England.
Kick-off between Philadelphia and New York on Wednesday night is slated for 7:30 p.m. EST.
