Francesco Pio Esposito says he always gives his all when playing for the Italy national team: ‘We didn’t treat these two games as friendlies.’
The Inter Milan player scored two consecutive goals in friendlies against Luxembourg and Greece this week, leading the Azzurri to two 1-0 victories.

Pio Esposito has now scored five goals in nine appearances with the Azzurri. Only Giuseppe Meazza had netted more goals with La Nazionale before turning 21.
“I’m happy with my goal and this target, but that wasn’t my thought before the game,” the striker told Rai Sport via TMW.
“I’m mostly happy for the win; this is such a great group.
“We didn’t treat these two games as friendlies; we wanted to win both.”
Pio Esposito had missed a penalty kick in the shootout against Bosnia and Herzegovina in March, so has he reconciled with the national team after his last two goals?
“I always give my all when I wear this shirt. Missing a penalty can happen, but I must look ahead, and I’m happy these two games went well. I hope to continue like this,” he concluded.
Pio Esposito returned to Inter last summer after a two-season loan at Spezia in Serie B.
The 20-year-old scored ten goals and provided six assists in 48 appearances across all competitions with the Nerazzurri in 2025-26.
His contract at the Stadio Meazza runs out in June 2030.
