PSG Turn to Ferran Torres as Other Target Prefers Tottenham Role
PSG have agreed a deal with Ferran Torres to replace Goncalo Ramos. The Spanish forward will join after Eli Junior Kroupi reportedly rejected a backup role at Paris.
PSG have likely made their decision to replace Goncalo Ramos. The capital club reportedly have an agreement with Ferran Torres for a move after the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Paris Saint-Germain have plenty of work to do in the transfer market. The reigning European champions must replace several departures in the attacking department. In recent days, the Parisian leaders have been actively searching for a new No. 9 to replace Goncalo Ramos.
Unless there is a late twist, Ferran Torres is expected to be the chosen one. The Spanish forward has reportedly reached a contract agreement with PSG, which must now reach an agreement with Barcelona, which is open to selling him. Torres' arrival would also mean the end of PSG's pursuit of Eli Junior Kroupi.
The former FC Lorient player wanted to join PSG. However, his club, Bournemouth, are demanding more than €100 million to approve his departure, a fee considered far too high by the Parisian leadership.
In recent hours, TEAMtalk reported that Kroupi dreams of joining Paris Saint-Germain, but he has informed the French capital club that he does not want to sign for a Ligue 1 side if it means accepting only a backup role behind players such as Ousmane Dembele and the other attacking stars in the squad.
That is reportedly one of the main reasons why PSG changed their strategy and decided to accelerate negotiations for Torres.
This situation benefits Tottenham and Roberto De Zerbi. The former Marseille manager is also a big admirer of Eli Junior Kroupi's profile and now has an opportunity to try to bring him in. The former Lorient player is also attracted by Spurs' project.
Tottenham still need to reach an agreement with Bournemouth, but a move for Kroupi to the North London club is now becoming an increasingly realistic possibility.
In other news, Lucas Beraldo is set to sign a contract extension with PSG through 2030 after a breakout season under Luis Enrique, per reports. The Brazilian was repositioned in midfield and impressed in the Champions League.
Even though he was almost always considered a backup option, Beraldo, 22, has turned things around in just a few months thanks to the confidence shown in him by head coach Enrique. He was expected to leave at the end of the season, but the versatile Brazilian now appears set to establish himself at PSG for the long term.
He is also likely to receive a salary increase. Beraldo currently earns 3.2 million euros per year at PSG, which is not a high salary by the club's standards.
