I think the RINOs in deep Red States are getting support and donors esp in Primaries from people who are really Dems.
So that is their actual core supporters, and then they have a “true conservative” act for the voters in elections.
The pattern in Canada and Britain is a little more straightforward.
The “Conservatives” and “Reform” have Party activists who WANT deportations etc. But the elected politicians have donors who do not want deportations, and they are also scared of media criticism.
Even in Canada where the general public by supermajority want deportations, Poilievre never mentions the issue.
(instead he talks about the Magna Carta and the origin of our rights etc. .. anything but the core immigration problem which is driving every other problem...)
