Spain's national soccer team shared a photo of the team's celebration after winning the 2026 World Cup to social media on Sunday, July 19. Notably absent from the photo was United States president Donald Trump.
As expected, Trump helped FIFA president Gianni Infantino present the World Cup trophy to Spain after La Roja won the tournament with a 1-0 victory over Argentina on Sunday.
However, Trump lingered on the podium for part of Spain's celebration, despite Infantino's apparent efforts to usher him off the stage that had been set up in the middle of the pitch.
As such, many presumed Trump would end up featured in Spain's moment of exultation. Instead, he was out of frame in the image shared to social media.
It wasn't immediately clear whether Trump had been photoshopped out of Spain's posted photo or if the team had simply taken a shot from later in the celebration – from after Trump and Infantino eventually left the stage – to post to its main account.
Either way, the Spanish squad and its fans will remain happy after its dominant win over Lionel Messi and Argentina. La Roja outshot La Albiceleste 20-2 and earned an extra time victory thanks to Ferran Torres' 106th-minute strike off a well-placed header from Nico Williams.
Spain is now the seventh nation to win multiple World Cups, joining Brazil (five), Germany (four), Italy (four), Argentina (three), France (two) and Uruguay (two). They previously won the tournament in 2010, a 1-0 extra time win over Netherlands during which Andrés Iniesta scored the game-winning goal in the 116th minute.
