No one is celebrating the New York Knicks' first championship since 1973 quite like USMNT midfielder Tyler Adams.

After helping guide the Americans to a win over Paraguay in the team's World Cup opener, the Wappingers Falls, New York, native took a step away from the pitch to watch his beloved Knicks take home their first Larry O'Brien Trophy in 53 years.

"Let's go!" shouted Adams as he embraced teammates while watching the Knicks clinch Game 5 on a screen at an outdoor gathering. "Champs!"

The Knicks took down the San Antonio Spurs with a 4-1 series win, earning a vengeful victory after San Antonio beat New York 27 years ago in the 1999 NBA Finals. About 24 hours earlier, the USMNT took down the Paraguayans 4-1 in a stunner, performing as well as they ever have in international competition.

It was the first time in USMNT history the team scored four goals in a single game, while it was their first three-goal win since the 1930 World Cup, which took place in Uruguay and featured just 13 teams. The Americans dominated possession, bettering Paraguay by 30% in that department and putting seven more shots on goal than their opponent.

Many are considering it the best performance ever put forth by the USMNT at the World Cup.

The Americans will look to continue their hot streak in their second game of the group stage, set for Friday at 3 p.m. against Australia. Team Australia defeated fellow Group D member, Türkiye, 2-0 early Sunday morning.
