What-A-Burger was started in Corpus Christi TX. The founder’s recipes were unique and very good. About 10-ish years ago What-A-Burger was sold to some conglomerate who promptly made some subtle changes to the food prep. As is usually the case when suits make changes to things they know nothing about, quality dropped.
Having eaten at WAB for much of my adult life I immediately noticed the changes. When I used to eat there 3-4 times a month has become less than once a month.
In-n-Out makes a tasty product, good fries, etc. But their success will be their downfall and product quality will suffer. Bank on it.
