For the most part, France has enjoyed a terrific performance at the 2026 World Cup.
Still among the favorites to win it all heading into the quarterfinals, France has won all of its matches, now set for a matchup with Morocco on Thursday. However, there has been at least a bit of drama surrounding one French star.
Michael Olise, who has five assists in the tournament so far, was hit with a yellow card for his clash with Matias Galarza during France's 1-0 victory over Paraguay — and after a failed attempt to overturn that call, Olise could be at risk of a more severe penalty if he receives another yellow card.
Here's what to know about what will happen with Olise if he receives a second yellow card.

What happens if Michael Olise gets another yellow card against Morocco?
Should Olise be hit with a yellow card vs. Morocco in the 2026 World Cup quarterfinals, he would be at risk of a one-match suspension for the semifinal game, assuming France advanced in the bracket as well.
During the Round of 16, Olise was booked for an altercation with Galarza, who fell to the ground holding his face, although video replays only showed Olise grabbing the Galarza's jersey before he fell to the grass.
Afterward, the French Football Foundation (FFF) made an appeal to FIFA to rescind Olise's yellow card — but even in the wake of the shocking decision to suspend U.S. star Folarin Balogun's one-game ban, that appeal from the FFF was dismissed.
"There was no change with Olise's yellow card," France manager Didier Deschamps said Wednesday, per ESPN. "We received from FIFA a decision this morning [Wednesday] that Olise's yellow card remains."
Now, if Olise is booked with another yellow card vs. Morocco on Thursday, he would face a potential one-game suspension for the World Cup semifinals. He's not the only player in France-Morocco at risk, either — below is the full list of players on each team already with one yellow card toward a suspension:
