England, Argentina have already played in Atlanta
England will face Argentina in the World Cup semifinal in Atlanta on July 15. This is the last match to be played in Atlanta.
England defeated Norway in extra time in Miami on Saturday, securing the team's place in the semifinal for the fourth time. England made the World Cup final in 1966, but then failed to reach the semifinal again until 1990, and then again in 2018, losing both times.
Argentina defeated Switzerland in another close match for the reigning World Cup champions in Kansas City on Saturday. Argentina has made the semifinal round six times, including in 1930, 1978, 1986, 1990, 2014 and before their World Cup win in 2022.
Both teams will also be playing for the second time in Atlanta this tournament.
England previously played the Democratic Republic of the Congo inside Atlanta Stadium on July 1, and Argentina took on Egypt in the Peach State capital on July 7. Following the England match, red crosses could be seen across Atlanta, and there was no pub left untouched by England fans in the city's entertainment district.
Messi was spotted practicing at Kennesaw State University ahead of Argentina's match in Atlanta, the second time the star player practiced at the facility in recent years. Blue and white jerseys also filled Atlanta streets before and after Argentina's win.
Can you still get tickets for the World Cup semifinal in Atlanta?
Yes, soccer fans can still buy tickets to watch England and Argentina in Atlanta — if you're willing to pay for it.
Buy Tickets to World Cup Semifinal in Atlanta
The cheapest tickets inside Atlanta Stadium (Mercedes-Benz Stadium) start at more than $3,000 for the highest sections. To be close to the goals on either side of the pitch, you'll have to pay closer to $4,000 or upward of $5,000.
Seats near the center of the field and in the lower bowl of the stadium are priced at $10,000 or more, depending on the section and side of the stadium.
If you're thinking of trying to attend the match, there is truly no bad seat in the house with the stadium's iconic 360 degree screen that encircles the roof. Both teams have the potential to win the entire tournament, so this may be the last chance for Atlanta locals to get in on the action.
Are there any days left at the fan festival in Centennial Park?
Free general admission tickets for the FIFA World Cup Official Fan Festival in Centennial Park have been sold out since June, but there are still tickets available for purchase for the remaining days.
The fan festival will be open on July 14 from 1 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. for the first semifinal match, and from noon to 10:30 p.m. on July 15 for Atlanta's semifinal match.
Ludacris will perform on July 14 on the festival stage. The Atlanta artist will also perform at the Atlanta World Cup Final watch party in Piedmont Park on July 19.
