Lautaro Martinez and Nico Paz are the only Serie A representatives in the World Cup Final, but both are expected to start on the bench.
Spain and Argentina meet at MetLife Stadium in New York today for the 2026 World Cup final.
It kicks off at 21:00 CET [20:00 BST], 15:00 local time. Spain are the defending European champions, while Argentina are the World Cup title holders.
As reported by Italian media including Gazzetta and Tuttosport, Inter captain Lautaro Martinez and Como star Nico Paz are expected to start on the bench for Argentina.
Lautaro, however, is Argentina’s second-best scorer at the 2026 World Cup with three goals. Only Leo Messi has scored more with eight.
Lautaro has featured in all Argentina’s games so far and scored a late winning goal in the semi-final against England on Wednesday.
Nico Paz, on the other hand, has made two appearances as a substitute in this World Cup, collecting 71 minutes of football.
