- World Cup 2026
Mbappe will be looking to keep scoring to catch up with Messi
We’re into the quarter final stage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, and with just eight games to play (yes, we have already watched 96 games go by!), we’re close to finding out who the next world champion is.
France have gotten to this stage without having really gotten out of third gear, though Paraguay did push them with their brand of physical, negative football in the Round of 16. That was the only way to slow down their scoring after they had scored three or more in four consecutive games.
Morocco surprised everyone getting to the semi-finals last time around, and have shown their pedigree this competition. They drew Brazil and finished level with them at the top of their group. Then they beat one of the tournament favourites Netherlands on penalties before romping past co-hosts Canada in the Round of 16.
