Giovanni Carnevali confirms Juventus ‘goalkeeper and striker are priorities,’ talks for Randal Kolo Muani, interest in Emiliano Martinez of Aston Villa and Tottenham’s Guglielmo Vicario, ‘but other profiles too.’

The former Sassuolo chief was formally appointed this month as a replacement for Damien Comolli, taking the role of both director general and CEO of Juve.

He spoke to Sky Sport Italia about the transfer strategy and confessed that there are two roles in particular that need to be filled, especially with Dusan Vlahovic’s contract running down on June 30.

“Personally, I have never spoken to Vlahovic. Anything is possible in football, there can be possibilities tomorrow that do not exist today. He is an important player, but today is not in our thoughts.”

Carnevali outlines Juventus priorities

There are two key roles for the Bianconeri to fill for next season, and Carnevali has a long list of candidates.

“The goalkeeper and striker are priorities, these are fundamental roles for a team,” he added.

“We have to work calmly, because as of today there are some economic demands that are very elevated.”

It is no secret that Juventus are negotiating with Paris Saint-Germain to bring back Kolo Muani following his loan spell at Tottenham Hotspur.

“Kolo is a possibility because the talk has gone on for a long time. You know there were previous difficulties, so we are rebuilding our rapport with PSG, but we also need the right and acceptable conditions.

“Concluding these talks is never easy. We have clear ideas, we know what we want to do and where we want to go.”

When it comes to the goalkeeper, the big names mentioned for Juventus have been Emiliano Martinez of Aston Villa and Tottenham’s Italian shot-stopper Vicario.

“Martinez is an important player, the first choice goalkeeper for Argentina, has immense experience and could be a suitable profile for Juventus,” noted Carnevali.

“I will not deny that we are evaluating other profiles, not just him, so quite a few others. There is also talk about Vicario, another one who can interest us, but there are others too.

“We do not need to get a deal done immediately, we’ve got all the time we need to reflect and try to get those players who want to come to Juventus.”

Carnevali also revealed that Juventus negotiations with Bologna for Jhon Lucumi had stalled, even with Fabio Miretti potentially going the other way.

“It won’t be easy to seal this deal, because we believe in Miretti and he has a certain value. At this moment, we do not need to sell. The same is true of Lucumi, he is an important player who could interest us, but not with his €28m release clause.”
