The next edition of the FIFA Men's World Cup will mark the 100th anniversary of the global tournament and six national teams already qualified for the 2030 tournament.

That's because host countries automatically qualify to compete in the World Cup. While there are three official host countries for next edition, there will be three centenary celebration host countries where at least one game will take place. Which brings the number of host countries to six.

Where will the 2030 FIFA World Cup take place?

The next edition of the Men's World Cup will take place in the Mediterranean, including in Morocco, Portugal and Spain, the FIFA Council confirmed.

FIFA also agreed to host a 100 year celebration in Paraguay, Uruguay and Argentina. All three countries are a few hours drive away from each other.

One game will be played in each of the South American countries. All other matches will take place in the Mediterranean host countries.

"In 2030 the FIFA World Cup will unite three continents and six countries, inviting the entire world to join in the celebration of the beautiful game," FIFA stated.

The centenary ceremony will take place in Uruguay's capital, Montevideo, five hours away from Argentina's capital, Buenos Aires. Montevideo was chosen as the host of the centenary ceremony in honor to the first World Cup in 1930 which took place there.

FIFA said that the national soccer team of each of the six host countries will automatically qualify for the tournament.
